Grand Ballroom of Doom
The Grand Ballroom of Doom is a political comic strip by Jacob C Hammes, published biweekly by the Philly Art Blog from 2020-2023. With no recurring characters and a sometimes frenetic drawing style, GBD is intended as a timely and humorous response to current events. Spanning pandemic etiquette, generational tension, electoral politics, police brutality, or sometimes just complicated insults, the connecting thread can only be described as the various absurdities of living life in late-stage capitalism.
